RimWorld is a story generator. It’s designed to co-author tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories about imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, starvation and survival.
Your colonists aren’t professional settlers; they’re survivors of a cruiser that crashed in orbit and crash-landed on Earth. You might find a nobleman, an accountant, and a housewife among them. You can recruit more colonists by capturing them in battle and adding them to your ranks, buying them from slavers, or taking them in as refugees. Therefore, your colony will always be a diverse group. Each individual’s background is recorded and influences their play style. A nobleman, for example, will excel at social skills (recruiting captives, negotiating trade prices) but will refuse to do physical labor.
